Do you Have a Problem? (FAQ)

My Credo humidifier will not absorb distilled water.  The water just slowly drips through without being absorbed and it seems like the humidifiers won't retain/absorb water in sufficient volume.

I just purchased a humidor and a CREDO humidifier to place inside, but as I have essentialy no experience with a humidor before, i'm unsure as to how to 'start' the humidifier.  Some basic instructions would be very helpful.

I have a CREDO regulator that will hold the level in my humidor for about 1 week and then it starts to drop.  I only use distilled water to rewet but I am suspicious about my hygrometer.

I will be away for the next 2 months. What should I do with my CREDO humidifier?

I have a CREDO and I would like to know if I could use a 50/50 solution as well as distilled water to refill?

I have filled my CREDO with a Propylene Glycol solution versus just distilled water.  Is this ok to do??  I thought any humidifier can use the PG solution. What exactly is your Special Care Solution  and is it imperative to use it every six months as indicated?

I purchased one of your humidfiers and the solution, but it doesn't say hom to fill it.  Please help if you can.
You should have purchased the instruction for use together with your Credo regulator.

In my new cigar box, humidity is max 66% indicated by my Hygrometer but my cigars seem to be OK What can I do?

How to adjust the CREDO analog hygrometer ?

How to adjust the digital Thermo-hygrometer ?

My Credo humidifier will not absorb distilled water.  The water just slowly drips through without being absorbed and it seems like the humidifiers won't retain/absorb water in sufficient volume.

this is  what's happend.
By leaving the Credos for weeks or months without refilling, all the distilled water has evaporate and the foam has " cooked", obstructing all the pores. This is the reason why your Credos do not accept any liquid anymore.
Unfortunately, there is no other remedy but changing the item.
The humidifier, like the cigars, needs to  be kept in moisture. The Credo self regulating humidifier, is a precise instrument and it needs to be used following strictly the instructions. The regular refilling (minimum once a month) is one of these.
For your memories, regular filling of the apparatus must be done with distilled water and liquid must be poured through the slots untill the first drop appearing. Only the original Credo Special care fluid can be used and once every 6 month.
Following these specifications should garanty the perfect working of the Credo. humidificateur

The refill of your item must be done approx. every 3 weeks.
Only use distilled or demineralized water, and slowly refill horizontaly through the slots of your Credo untill the first drops leaking.
The maintenance of your Rondo consists in refilling once every 6 months with (and only with) the Credo Special Care Solution, replacing a regular refilling.
It is as simple as that. Your Credo humidity regulator guaranties by natural evaporation or absorption a stable humidity level of  70 % R.H.
You need to know that a brand new box needs time to humidify and reach the "cruising speed". Regarding the size of the box and the humidity of the wood, it may take sometimes up to 4-5 weeks. During this period, you may refill once a week.
Only use demineralized or distilled water.

I have a CREDO regulator that will hold the level in my humidor for about 1 week and then it starts to drop.  I only use distilled water to rewet but I am suspicious about my hygrometer.

In your case, the first thing to do is checking with a good hygrometer the real moisture level you have inside your humidor. I recall you that 70-75 % humidity does not give damp cigars but just moist enough to allow the best possible combustion and conservation.
The question is: have you reached this 70-75% level?
Evrey time you refill your humidifier with distilled water, that water evaporates in your humidor. If this amount of evaporated water is not going to your cigars, it has to go somewhere. You should control if your humidor is air tight enough to keep humidity inside the box. If you let the lid fall down the humidor, there should be no noise because an air tight humidor would have an air cushion effect that brakes the lid.
If your humidor is air tight, properly seasoned, there is no reason not to reach 70-75 % humidity, whatever your hygrometer indicates.
Thus do not worry about your cigars. They are in very good hands with the CREDO.
What you need to do is: Smoke your cigars and feel how humidified they are.  I'm faily certain that they are in the best possible state, humid but not damp. The good work of the Credo's is not subject to variation and they can only reach a stabilization level at 70-75 %. This is no magic but physic.

I will be away for the next 2 months. What should I do with my CREDO humidifier?

Do not leave your CREDO regulator dry out.
If you don't use your cigar humidor for a period of time, wrap properly your CREDO regulator in an airtight plastic bag.

For your memories, regular filling of the apparatus must be done with distilled water and liquid must be poured through the slots untill the first drop appearing. Be aware that the Credo Special Care Solution is the only product to be used for regenerating the Credo humidifiers. Any use of any other copy cat will damage the unit . The product is not the same and its use is at owners own risk.
We will not garanty the Credo by filling any other product but distilled water for regular refill and Credo Special Care Solution for maintenance, once every 6 months.

It is important to read the instructions before doing such things but it should not harm your unit for just one time. There is no PG solution in the Credo regulator. The Credo Special Care Solution is a special product for the maintenance of the Credos. It should be used only once every 6 months and only after the first 6 months of use. It aims at regenerating the active substances allowing the precise stabilisation of the humidity level. (Top)

In my new cigar box, humidity is max 66% indicated by my Hygrometer but my cigars seem to be OK What can I do?

Hygroscopy is a very complicated subject and the instruments which measure it, must be evaluated by keeping this complexity in memory .
You need to know that a brand new box needs time to humidify and reach the "cruising speed". Regarding the size of the box and the humidity of the wood, it may take sometimes up to 4-5 weeks. During this period, you may refill once a week. Only use demineralized or distilled water.
An infallible method to know the exact rate of moisture inside a cigar humidor consists in installing a Credo humidifier in an air tight box. Let assemble 4 weeks until the cruising speed is reached and note the guaranteed rate of 72 %, ± 2%.
The + or- 5 % difference between this moisture level and the reading of the hygrometer is not important
The most important thing to follow is the humidity variation inside your humidor. any decrease read on the hygrometer means that it is necessary to refill your regulator

How to adjust the CREDO analog hygrometer ?

We recommend to adjust the instrument once a year. Simply wrap it up in a wet cloth for half an hour. Then readjust the pointer between 94-96%, on the back with a screwdriver. You can start this procedure twice to perfect the adjustment precisely. (Top)

How to adjust the digital Thermo-hygrometer ?

The calibration of the Credo digital thermo-hygrometer is a procedure to reset the apparatus. As opposed to the analog hygrometer, which  synthetic membrane  becomes deformed with time and thus needs to be recalibrated, the electronic humidity sensor has very light deviation and thus needs only to be reseted.  It consists in removing the battery and replace it to reset the calculation.
This operation takes allmost 20 minutes to stabilize the calculation. Thisshould be done once a year.
Choosing the Credo shouldn't be a wrong choice
